The Sustainable James team recognizes that there is a lot of information regarding the James, whether it be concerned with policy affecting the James, inspiring stories about the river, or new research regarding its health and state. Below are a series of websites that we believe may help you find all the information you need regarding the Mighty James. Envision the James

Envision the James is an organization that brings together community members to develop a vision of the James in future amidst a changing world. Envision the James seeks to preserve the magnificent James' legacy for future generations.

Friends of the James

Friends of the James is an organization of the James River Park System. The organization organizes cleanups, hosts fundraising events, shares news on the James, publicizes events and activities associated with the James River Park System and much more!

Chesapeake Bay Foundation

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation is one of the most well-known environmental organizations in the United States. The Bay Foundation's goal is to protect the Chesapeake Bay, which is the James River's termnius. The Bay Foundation provides novel research, news, and hosts various events.

James River Association

The James River Association is a group that lobbys for environmental, aesthetic, and recreational preservation of the James River. The James River Association is very active in efforts to conserve the James River and prevent overdevelopment and manipulation of the river.

James River News

James River News is an organization that catalogs and shares the news on what is happening to the James. Whether it be a festival, a proposed dam project, or updates on the River City's bald eagles, James River News has it all.

USGS: James River

The United States Geological Survey has stations all over the James River and presents real-time data on nutrient loads, flow rates, and historical data on the James River. This particular station is in Richmond, Virginia.

Chesapeake Bay Program

The Chesapeake Bay Program focuses on the health of the Chesapeake Bay. The James River is the largest discharger into the James, so the Bay Program is heavily invested to the improving the health of the James River.

VCU Rice Center

Virginia Commonwealth University's Rice Center is a water quality monitoring program. The Rice Center monitors and catalogs wter findings from various locations within the James Watershed. The VCU Rice Center is an excellent source of raw data.

Friends of the James

Discover the James is one of the James River's best recreational and educational tour organization. The famous Bald Eagle Tours bring Richmonders and vistors alike out into the wild sections of the James to fully interact with the more natural aspect of the James.

James River Advisory Council

The James River Advisory Council is a branch of the Virginia State Government that deals strictly with managing the James. Hundreds of bills float through the Virginia congress, so keeping up to date on what politicians, the city, and the commonwealth are doing is crucial.
