The Sustainable James

The Spiders' hub for all things James River.

WHO WE ARE

Envision the James

In 2011, the James River Association and the Chesapeake Conservancy partnered with National Geographic Maps to establish Envision the James. Envision the James (ETJ) is an on-going conservation initiative that works with communities and partners in the James River watershed to plan and implement projects that sustain and enhance the region’s natural and cultural heritage, local economies, wildlife abundance, and outdoor recreation assets for present and future generations. ETJ invites communities and individuals to create a common vision for the James River to benefit present and future generations. Through careful research and consideration ETJ has identified four areas of work: 1) heritage and river-based tourism, 2) recreational trails and river access, 3) conservation and restoration and 4) wildlife habitat
